UK bunker supplier Geos Group says the Port of Great Yarmouth, England, will have faster turnaround times as a result of an extended strategic alliance with Peterson.

The two companies will offer an integrated logistics and ex-pipe bunkering service at the port in the hopes of repeating their earlier successes in Aberdeen and Heysham.

"As a fuel supplier, we are constantly looking for ways to help our clients improve efficiency and reduce costs - joining forces with Peterson at Great Yarmouth is a significant step in implementing this strategy," said Adrian Proctor, Commercial Director at the Geos Group.

The Peterson Supply Base at Great Yarmouth includes material handling equipment, warehousing, and a truck fleet for vessels servicing the North Sea offshore oil and gas industry.

Of its four berths, Berth 7A is now equipped for vessel bunkering.

"Modern vessel handling methods allow loading, offloading, and bunkering to be carried out simultaneously, resulting in reduced turnaround times," said Paul Smith, Peterson's Business Manager at the Port of Great Yarmouth.

It was not clear exactly how much faster the turnaround times at the port would be.

In February Geos Group announced the start of bunker operations at its new Port of Blyth bunkering facility.
