Deltamarin Ltd says that subsidiary Deltamarin Floating Construction Ltd has been awarded a contract by Finnish shipowner Bore Ltd to supply one of its DeltaLangh turkey exhaust gas cleaning systems.

The scrubber system will be installed on the Ro-Ro vessel M/V Bore Song later this year at a repair yard in Northern Europe, and once started is expected to take 14 days to complete.

In a separate statement, Bore said the 2011 built vessel, which is currently on charter with P&O Ferries, was designed with fuel efficiency and reduced emissions in mind, and the new scrubber will further reduce the vessel's environmental footprint.

"It is good news for P&O Ferries as we strive to meet the new emissions requirements which come into force next year and it is good news for our customers too," said John Garner, Fleet Director for P&O Ferries, who added that the firm had also extended its current chartering arrangements for the vessel with Bore.

Deltamarin said the scrubber will be installed as part of their "EPC" offering where Deltamarin will take care of engineering, procurement, and construction, while the ship owner will take care of the vessel docking contract.

The Bore contract represents the fifth vessel in Deltamarin's orderbook for full EPC scrubber installations, they noted.

From January 1, 2015 all vessels operating within the world's Emissions Control Areas (ECAs) will have to use a marine fuel with a sulfur content not exceeding 0.10 percent by weight, down from the current limit of 1.00 percent, or use a equivalent method of compliance such as scrubber technology.

Earlier this week it was announced that Deltamarin was shortlisted for the 2014 Energy Efficiency Solution Award for their B. DELTA Energy Efficient Cargo Vessel Designs.
