Parker Kittiwake - Procal (Procal) has announced in an emailed press release the launch of an "advanced data gathering system" intended to assist with Emission Control Area (ECA) compliance.

The new data gathering system and control unit, Procal 1200M, is capable of collecting and processing data from Parker Kittiwake Procal’s marine emissions analysers, and sending and receiving data from devices which monitor exhaust gas scrubbing systems.

The system is said to be capable of collecting and reporting on various parameters, including Sulfur dioxide (SO2), Carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), PH, sea water temperature, turbidity, polyaromatichydrocarbon equivalents, and wash water flow rate.

“An easy-to-use hub for all scrubber and CEMS related data, the Procal 1200M unit not only provides the crew with essential information, it also aids operators in collating detailed and accurate data for regulators to prove compliance,” said Chris Daw, business development manager for Procal.

The system is said to have three levels of password protection and compliant with MARPOL Annex VI security requirements.

"As environmental legislation continues to evolve in parallel with ecological awareness, the policing of compliance is becoming gradually more uniform and effective," said Daw.

"Indeed, many Port State Controls, especially those in Europe and the U.S., are cracking down hard. With the potential for fines and delays, accurately demonstrating compliance is becoming a bottom line issue."

In September, Procal announced that it had signed a contract making Score Subsea and Wellhead Ltd (SSWL) the official systems integrator for Procal's CEM analysers for marine, power, and offshore applications.
