Russia's LUKOIL (Lukoil), says its subsidary LUKOIL Marine Lubricants (Lukoil Marine Lubricants), has launched its iCOlube system, a cylinder oil lubrication unit intended to save bunkers, and optimise vessel engine performance and efficiency, in the UK market.

"This intelligent cylinder oil lubrication unit tailors the alkalinity reserve to engine load and fuel," explained Lukoil.

"The feed rate always stays at optimum level while only the fuel sulphur content needs to be entered. This way, it maintains best engine conditions, reduces oil costs, saves fuel and is environmentally friendly."

The official launch was said to have taken place on September 8 during an event hosted by Lukoil Marine Lubricants at London's Kensington Palace with a reported 120 prominent industry guests in attendance.

In August, Lukoil Marine Lubricants announced that it opened a new warehouse in Gothenburg, Sweden in order to improve the product range availability to Scandinavian markets.
