Russian oil giant Lukoil has advised customers to check the credentials of third parties claiming to be acting on its behalf, as it is aware of fraud attempts at an international level.

"The OAO LUKOIL Press Service strongly recommends that the suppliers who claim to be acting on behalf of OAO LUKOIL or its subsidiaries be carefully examined," the company said in a written statement.

In particular, Lukoil said it was aware that commercial offers have been made from unauthorized persons claiming to be working on behalf of wholly-owned subsidiary OOO Saratovorgsintez.

"They call it ООО «САРАТОВОРГСИНТЕЗ НЕФТЕПЕРЕРАБАТЫВАЮЩИЙ ЗАВОД» and/or OOO SARATOVORGSINTEZ REFINERY. The correct legal and actual addresses of OOO Saratovorgsintez are indicated, as well as its record details," Lukoil said.

"ООО Saratovorgsintez  does not have either a branch or a representative office in Moscow; nor does it have anything to do with the Internet portal  www.saratovorgsintez.ru. The subsidiary's official website is www.saratov.lukoil.com."
