Crowley Selects Eagle LNG to Supply Bunkers for New LNG-Powered Ships
Crowley Maritime Corporation (Crowely) has announced that Crowley Puerto Rico Services, Inc. (Crowley Puerto Rico Services) has chosen Eagle LNG Partners (Eagle LNG) to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the company's new LNG-powered, Commitment Class ConRo ships.
The ships, which are said to be set for delivery in 2017, will be used in trade between the U.S. mainland to Puerto Rico.
"Crowley is proud to take a leadership position in the industry's shift to cleaner-burning, natural gas fuel solutions," said John Hourihan, senior vice president and general manager for Crowley Puerto Rico Services.
"The partnership with Eagle LNG is an important first step in developing sustainable supply infrastructure to ensure these highly technical, environmentally friendly vessels operate to their full capability."
Dick Brown, CEO of Eagle LNG, commenting on the Crowley's selection, said "the marine sector represents a significant opportunity for LNG fueling in the U.S., and Eagle LNG is well-positioned to build the necessary infrastructure and provide the specialized logistics to facilitate this energy transformation."
"It takes companies like Crowley to lead that wave of change. Eagle LNG is proud to work with such a pioneering organization."
In September, Marine Firefighting Inc. (Marine Firefighting) announced that it had joined forces with Gas Technology Institute (GTI) to train 150 Port of Jacksonville area stakeholders on LNG bunkering awareness and safety through a program funded by a group of companies with current LNG projects underway, including the Crowley Maritime Corporation, and Eagle LNG, among others.
