Second Phase of Malaysia Storage Terminal Complete
ATT Tanjung Bin Sdn Bhd (ATB), a wholly owned subsidiary of Vitol Tank Terminals International BV (VTTI), Tuesday announced in an emailed press release that it has completed the second phase of the ATB oil terminal expansion.
The company says that, as of August 1, the expansion project at its oil storage facility in the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Johor, Malaysia, was officially complete, adding another 262,000 million cubic metres (cbm) of storage capacity to the existing facility.
With 12 new tanks, the completed terminal now has 1.15 million cbm of storage capacity, and provides access to six marine berths for tankers as big as Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs).
"The expansion was completed on budget, on time and in a superlatively safe manner," said ATB in the statement.
Aernout Boot, General Manager of ATB, commenting on the project, said "the successful completion of our expansion project demonstrates our ability to be both operationally lean and efficient. With increased capacity and a new jetty, we can now better serve our existing and new customers in the region."
In May, it was reported that the phase completion would add almost 30 percent additional storage to the existing terminal capacity of 890,000 cbm, as well as a jetty that can accommodate Aframax vessels with a capacity of 120,000 DWT.
