The total bunker sales volume in Singapore for 2013 was better than initially estimated, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has confirmed.

Earlier in January, MPA estimated a slight decline in the total sales volume for 2013 to 42.5 million tonnes, compared with 42.7 million tonnes in 2012.

However the most recent official detailed data, which MPA has now published on its website, shows 2013's bunker sales volume was 42,682,200 tonnes, just 3,100 tonnes less than 2012's total of 42,685,300 tonnes.

The latest figures also confirm that, at 21,795,500 tonnes, the sales volume in the second half of 2013 was the highest half-yearly sales since the 21,992,300 tonnes sold in the the last six months of 2011.

Last year the MPA also revised up its preliminary monthly sales total for May 2013 to 3,533,900 tonnes, after subsequently recording an addition of 4,900 tonnes in sales of bunkers with a grade classification of "other".
