Singapore Bunker Sales 3% Lower in May
Bunker sales in Singapore during the month of May were down 3 percent month-on-month to 3,529,000 metric tonnes (mt) for all products, according to official data published by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
The volume fell 456,700 mt short of the port's performance in the period last year when sales rose to 3,985,700 mt, a total which still stands as the highest monthly sales volume in the port's history.
Average monthly sales for all products during the first five months of 2013 stands at 3,480,000 mt per month, down 4 percent from 3,618,000 mt per month for the period in 2012.
May 2013 sales of the port's most popular grade, IFO380, dipped 3 percent to 2,633,200 mt, but sales of 500 cSt product rose for a third consecutive month, up 1.75 percent to a new record high of 644,300 mt.
Sales of MGO in May dropped 17.7 percent month-on-month to 93,700 mt.
Despite the drop in bunker volumes, vessel arrivals were up 3.9 percent to 11,803 for the month, with vessel calls for bunkers rising 1.42 percent over last month to 3,282.
