Gazpromneft Marine Bunker reports it increased its direct bunker fuel sales by 22 percent to 2.2 million tonnes year-over-year in 2013, while its overall sales of marine fuel rose 10 percent to 3.2 million tonnes.

The subsidiary of major Russian energy player Gazprom Neft entered the international market in 2013 with the acquisition of bunker companies in Romania and Estonia, while also expanding its presence in Russia with new operations at Nizhnekamsk and Sochi.

Over the summer, the company added a new ship operating offshore in the Black Sea, bringing its tanker fleet to eight vessels.

When the company announced its acquisition of the Romanian company, Marine Bunker Balkan S.A., in March 2013, management board chairman Alexander Dyukov said international expansion would held it "become a significant player in the international bunker fuel market."
