Spanish dock workers have announced nine days of planned strike action, which could lead to disrupt port operations for up to three weeks between March 6 and March 24, Reuters reports.

Last week, Spanish port workers were reported to have called off planned strike action, set for this month.

As Ship & Bunker reported the week prior, the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) had said that, in response to Spanish government plans to reform the country's port system, Spain's trade unions had been planning to strike on February 20, 22, and 24.

Dockers are said to have called off the initially planned three-day strike after the government said its reforms would be put on hold in favour of negotiations.

The newly planned strike action is reported to come following signals from the government that have indicated that some portions of its reform plan will not be changed.

At this stage, it is unclear what, if any, impacts will be felt on the regional bunkering market as a result of the strike action.
