Feyza Genç, a general cargo ship, fled Malta after a local court issued an arrest warrant on Friday for €45,818 ($50,679.75) in unpaid bunker bills, Turkish Shipping News reports.

The 85 metre long, Turkish registered vessel was said to have arrived in Malta shortly before the warrant was issued by the Civil Court of Malta.

The vessel is reportedly being sued by Maltese bunker supplier Cassar Fuel Limited, which claims it supplied the Feyza Genç with the bunkers over a year ago.

Before it fled, the vessel was reportedly anchored an area known as Bunker Area 3, about 9 miles off the Maltese coast, when it received an order to remain where it was.

Several similar incidents are said to have been reported in the past several months in Malta.

Last May, it was reported that an oil tanker had evaded arrest in Malta as well.
