Dutch gas shipper Anthony Veder Group (Anthony Veder) has said its new ship, Coral Energy, is the world's first direct driven dual-fuel ice class 1A liquified natural gas (LNG) carrier.

The vessel was developed with Norwegian gas provider Skangass in a process that started in 2010 and will end with a naming ceremony at the Cruise Terminal in Rotterdam on December 7, 2012.

The Rotterdam based shipper said that the design of the ship is such that LNG can be delivered to all sizes of terminals "in an environmental friendly way," where the LNG can be used, amongst other things, as cleaner bunker fuel for other ships.

The Coral Energy is being built at the Neptun Werft in Rostock, Germany and was successfully launched on September 30, 2012.
