Matrix Bharat Pte LTD (MXB) has announced in an emailed statement the deployment of Royal Yamuna in Mumbai, a new 1,000 DWT capacity bunker barge it says is "set to take the bunkering market in Mumbai by a storm."

"This massive Bunker Barge shall provide both heavy fuel oil –IFO 380 RMG 2005/2010 – and marine gas oil to customers at all locations within the Port of Mumbai, JNPT, Nhava Sheva & Mumbai Outer Anchorage up to 12 nautical miles," said MXB.

"This development is in line with the company's strategy to expand its physical operations on a global basis, building closer relationships with its customers, and ensuring the highest quality of its bunkering services and products."

The 51m long Royal Yamuna has a pumping rate of 80 to 100 metric tonnes (mt) per hour, and the two grades of cargo are carried with double segregation in the pipeline.

"Royal Yamuna will strengthen our capabilities even more by giving us complete control over the end-to-end bunker supply chain in Mumbai (product delivery right from refinery to the vessel)," said MXB COO Ashok Sharma.

"This shall also give us an unprecedented advantage in catering to on the spur of the moment bunker requirements."

Earlier this year MXB announced it hired a new India-based bunker trader, Mr. Rahul Tiwari.
