Ardmore Orders Four Eco-Tankers
Ardmore Shipping Corporation [NYSE:ASC] (Ardmore) of Ireland says it has ordered four eco-design product and chemical tankers for a total of about $118 million.
Fukuoka Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (Fukuoka) of Japan is building the 25,000 dead-weight-tonne (dwt) ships, which will be IMO 2 compliant.
The vessels will be delivered between the fourth quarter of 2014 and the fourth quarter of 2015.
The contracts also include fixed price options for an unspecified number of additional ships.
Since its initial public offering on July 31, Ardmore has ordered eight eco-vessels, including two product tankers ordered from SPP Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. and two chemical tankers ordered from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. Ltd.
The new deal with Fukuoka brings its newbuilding orders to 12.
Ardmore has eight ships currently in operation.
