GAC Group Names New Group President
Dubai-based global shipping, logistics, and marine services company GAC Group says it has appointed Bengt Ekstrand as its new group president.
Ekstrand is currently group vice president of GAC's Asia-Pacific region and previously led the Middle East region.
"Bengt brings substantial experience in GAC's core businesses plus an intimate understanding of GAC's values to the position of Group President," said Björn Engblom, executive chairman of GAC Group.
"He has been part of the GAC team for 20 years and has shown in that time that he has the vision and the determination to take GAC forward."
Ekstrand will replace Lars Säfverström, who held the position since July 1998, in January 2013.
GAC Group includes GAC Bunker Fuels, which has operations globally, as well as Offshore Support, Tug and Barge Operations, Mooring Master Services and Project Logistics, according to its website.
