CEPSA Launches 2015 ECA Compliant 0.10% Sulfur Marine Fuel
CEPSA has launched a distillate marine fuel designed for compliance with the 2015 introduction of a 0.10 percent sulfur cap on bunkers used within Emissions Control Areas (ECAs).
CEPSA says it's target is to have product available in its main bunker supply ports by December 2014.
In an email announcement to customers, the supplier said DMB 0.1% meets all DMB ISO 2010 parameters with the added benefit of the lower sulfur content.
It is also fully compatible with MGO, and typical values show a higher viscosity than marine gasoil.
A provided fuel sample analysis showed a viscosity of 8.807 cSt, and a sulfur content of less than 0.050 %(m/m), and customers my also contact CEPSA for a 2 litre product sample.
All vessels operating within the world's ECAs currently must use a marine fuel with a sulfur content not exceeding 1.00 percent by weight, a limit which drops to 0.10 percent on January 1, 2015.
