Two bulkers have collided at Singapore's eastern bunkering anchorage, according to IHS Maritime 360.

Whilst the collision occurred at the anchorage there is no report of a bunker spillage.

The Capesize bulker, Southern Explorer, had just anchored after arriving from Brazil when the smaller Panamex bulker, Best Unity, collided with it.

Following the collision, Southern Explorer was said to have been listing after taking on water.

Southern Explorer is owned by Mizuho Sangyo Co. Ltd of Japan while Best Unity belongs to Skaarup Shipping Corp, based in Connecticut, U.S.

Though no crew were harmed aboard Best Unity, Mizuho Sangyo has not yet made a statement regarding Southern Explorer's crew.

Earlier this year, after a spate of vessel collisions in Singapore waters that resulted in three bunker spills in a 13 day period, BIMCO, the Directorate-General of Sea Transportation of Indonesia, the Malaysia Marine Department of Malaysia, and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) issued a pamphlet entitled Safe Passage: The Straits of Singapore and Malacca.
