Marine lubricant company Total Lubmarine Thursday announced that its new blending plant in Singapore, intended to meet demand for marine lubricants in the Asia Pacific market, produced its first batch of Total Lubmarine products.

As Ship & Bunker reported in July, Total Lubmarine opened a new "state-of-the-art" blending facility in the Singapore Lube Park in Tuas South with an annual production capacity of 310,000 metric tonnes (mt).

"Now that our Singapore blending facility is up and running, we can cater more effectively for our growing Asian customer base," said Andrew Knox, Total Lubmarine's Asia-Pacific General Manager.

"The ability to load and unload raw materials and products via a bespoke jetty directly linked to the blending plant has significantly reduced our production process lead times and enables us to respond to big surges in demand in a more agile manner."

Total Lubmarine also reports that it now has three 900 DWT double-hulled barges, which are operated by its logistics partner Ocean Tankers, and used to deliver products loaded from the Tuas jetty.

The company adds that the barges allow Total Lubmarine to take advantage of the jetty's "independent pipelines and close proximity to the Western sector and Jurong sector anchorages off Singapore."

In April, Total Lubmarine announced the opening of new laboratory facilities at its existing research centre in France, which is said are intended to focus on developing new marine lubricant products.
