Bunker trading group Bunker Holding A/S, the parent of 34 bunker companies, has hired KPI Bridge Oil Group CEO Jan Obel as its chief sales officer, the company said today in an emailed statement.

The newly created position has responsibility for new business development, including developing large strategic customers and new projects, as well as the marine lubricants business.

"During Jan's latest experience as CEO of the KPI Bridge Oil Group for more than 6 years, he gained thorough knowledge and experience within all aspects of the bunker business, which we as well as our other subsidiaries can now benefit from," said Bunker Holding CEO Keld Demant.

"Jan additionally brings a wealth of experience from previous international sales and management positions."

Obel will start work September 1, and will be based in London but will also work from the company's Middelfart, Denmark headquarters and travel worldwide to visit key clients.

"I am extremely excited to join the Bunker Holding team in this new function and to start working on strategic sales and business development and other core business activities in close cooperation with the Bunker Holding subsidiaries," Obel said.

Bunker Holding, itself a subsidiary of A/S United Shipping & Trading Co. (USTC), increased its bunker sales volume by 10 percent in its 2013/2014 year, with Demant attributing most of the volume growth to "major, reliable customers."

Last month it opened a new Singapore based subsidiary company Unicore Fuel Pte Ltd.
