PRSS RELEASE

Singapore, the world's top bunkering port, is moving forward at a pace with its government's intentions to develop an LNG storage, trans-shipment and bunkering hub to meet anticipated demand in the region. With the recent official opening of its first LNG terminal what better time than now or place than Singapore for TradeWinds to hold the LNG as Marine Fuel Forum?

On the afternoon of 7 April in the Straits Room of the Fullerton Hotel an exclusive group of shipping industry executives who are considering LNG for their fleet, actively planning for LNG bunkering, or reviewing how they will cost effectively and practically meet emissions regulations in the future will openly discuss and learn from those who have pioneered LNG as an alternative marine fuel.  Confirmed speakers and panellists include: Mark Bell – General Manager Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF), Henrik Källsson – Deputy Managing Director, Erik Thun, Dirk Nous – LNG Project Manager, Fluxys LNG, Arthur Barret – Program Director, LNG Bunkering, GTT and Michael Lund – Deputy Secretary General at BIMCO.

Mike Porter, Events Consultant for TradeWinds commented; "We believe that this is the first forum of its kind to be held in Singapore which is totally dedicated to an open debate on the scope for LNG to become an economic and environmentally friendly alternative marine fuel and, in particular, the commercial considerations for all marine transportation including deep sea.  With broad representation from shipowners and shipmanagers, suppliers, port and terminal operators, class societies, consultants and industry bodies among the limited number of attendees, the event should generate some lively discussion."

If, as many claim, this is the dawn of a new era then now is the time to openly discuss and learn from those who have pioneered LNG as marine fuel.

The principal sponsor of the LNG as a Marine Fuel Forum is Classification Society Lloyd's Register Marine whilst Industry bodies SGMF, BIMCO and Intertanko lend their official support as Industry bodies. The event is officially held in conjunction with Singapore Maritime Week and substantial training grants are offered for eligible delegates by Singapore's MPA through the Maritime Cluster Fund.
