Stena Bulk AB (Stena Bulk) has announced that held a naming ceremony on Tuesday for its bunker-saving newbuild tanker, Stena Immaculate, the ninth of a total of 13 IMOIIMAX MR tankers slated for the company.

The fuel efficient vessel is said to offer fuel consumption levels of about 10-20 percent lower than that of equivalent vessels when sailing at service speed.

"Almost exactly two years have passed since the delivery of our first IMOIIMAX tanker and the vessels are continuing to perform beyond our expectations. The concept has set a new standard for both cargo efficiency and bunkers consumption," said Erik Hånell, President & CEO, Stena Bulk.

"With number nine of the13 vessels on order soon out on the market, this tanker will be yet another addition to our high-quality fleet."

The 50,000 DWT tanker, noted to offer numerous advantages, including extra large cargo flexibility and a high level of safety, is said to build on an already well-established innovative technical design developed by Stena Teknik and Chinese shipyard Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI).

The tenth IMOIIMAX tanker, Stena Impeccable, is set for delivery in March 2017, while the remaining three vessels will be delivered by 2018.

Five of the 13 IMOIIMAX tankers are noted to be wholly owned by Stena Bulk, four jointly with Golden Agri Resources (GAR), two by Concordia Maritime, Stena Bulk’s sister company, and two by Stena Weco.
