DFDS Seaways'(DFDS') Ro-Ro vessel Finlandia Seaways has received the installation of an open-loop scrubber from Marine Exhaust Technology A/S (Marine Exhaust Technology), World Maritime News reports.

As Ship & Bunker reported in July, DFDS previously announced plans to install the scrubber system as well as a fuel optimisation program aboard Finlandia Seaways.

The 11,800 kg scrubber is said to have an exhaust gas flow of 88,000 kg per hour.

The vessel is used by DFDS on its Rosyth to Zeebrugge route.

In March, DFDS said that scrubber installations on existing vessels for Emission Control Area (ECA) compliance has paid off, but added that liquefied natural gas (LNG) is the most efficient solution for newbuilds.
