MISC Saves 33,057 Tonnes of CO2 through Green Tech

MISC Berhad (MISC) Friday announced that its latest sustainability report, which covers the 2015 year, shows the company saved 33,057 tonnes of CO2 emissions through the "application of green technology."

The company also notes that it has ordered five new Moss type liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, set to feature "green" technologies that will improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions.

"Our systematic and structured approach in managing MISC's sustainability performance over the past few years involves a continuous endeavour to conduct our business operations in a responsible and sustainable manner, define and enhance relationships with our key stakeholders as well as ensure holistic value creation over time," said Yee Yang Chien, Group CEO and President.

"2015 marks a significant milestone in MISC's commitment to sustainability as we refreshed our Vision and Mission to ensure sustainability is central to the way we conduct business."

MISC says that the company achieved a revenue of RM10.91 billion ($2.66 billion) during the 2015 period, up 17.3 percent year on year from RM9.30 billion ($2.27 billion) in 2014.

The company's profit before tax (PBT) during the 2015 year is said to have increased by 6.5 percent year on year, rising from RM2.41 billion ($590 million) in 2014 to RM2.57 billion ($630 million) in 2015.

Meanwhile, the group reported an operating profit of RM2.78 billion ($680 million) during 2015, which is 51.1 percent higher than 2014's operating profit of RM1.84 billion ($450 million).
