Viswa Lab today said it was aiming to provide vessel operators with bunker savings of up to 20 percent through its Viswa Energy Efficiency Management System (VEEMS).

VEEMS has been going through incremental testing and improvements since being first introduced in 2014, Viswa Lab explained, and it is now a "fully developed and market-ready product for the marine industry."

VEEMS Onboard uses data collected from a ship's engine room and bridge, combined with satellite data, and communicates this information to shore based ship management operations.

By combining data from Ship Operations and Shore Management, the VEEMS system then provides optimized sailing parameters Viswa Lab claims can result in bunker savings as high as 20 percent.

The system is being demonstrated this week at the Heidmar conference, March 14-15.
