Shell Introduces New Lube for 2015 ECA Use
Shell Marine Products (SMP) says it has introduced a new two-stroke engine oil designed for use with low-sulfur and distillate fuels.
The product, Shell Alexia S3, is intended for use in Emissions Control Areas (ECAs) where the 0.10 percent sulfur limit takes effect at the start of next year.
The lubricant will be available starting in December at major ports in SMP's distribution network.
Shell says its Alexia S3 is formulated for use with fuels of up to 0.5 percent sulfur content, while the company also offers Shell Gadinia for medium-speed four-stroke engines and Shell Mysella for gas-powered vessels such as Shell's chartered barge Greenstream, which operates along the River Rhine.
"We are dedicated to providing our customers with the right solution, at the right place, at the right time," said Surinderdeep Singh, general manager of SMP.
"The introduction of Shell Alexia S3 completes our portfolio, ensuring all our customers will have the right lubricant suitable for their shipping needs."
Total Lubmarine (Lubmarine) announced yesterday that it has also introduced its own new ECA focused lubricant for slow-speed two-stroke engines using distillate fuels with a 0.10 percent sulfur content.
