Sources say bunkering operations at Istanbul, Turkey, and Novorossiysk, Russia, are being hampered by bad weather, Platts reports.

"All operations at sea are suspended due to strong southwest winds... Delays are quite possible up to November 10 because of the bad weather," said one Istanbul-based bunker supplier.

"Barges are hardly loading due to bad weather," said another Istanbul supplier, noting: "it is also affecting incoming cargoes and all shipping in the area."

Novorossiysk is said to have its bunkering operations completely shut down, with trading sources confirming that crude loadings have also been affected at the port.

"Novo is closed today, it's been closed in recent days two to three times. Is it causing delays? For the time being, no," explained a crude trader.

"But as this has been the third time it will create delays at some point, and it seems that bad weather is expected to persist for the next 10 days."

Meanwhile, bunkering operations at the Port of Piraeus, a competitor of Istanbul and Novorossiysk, are said to be busier than usual.
