Verifavia Approves Setel Hellas' MRV Solution
Within the context of the European Union's (EU's) new Monitoring Reporting and Verification (MRV) regulation requirements, Verifavia Shipping (Verifavia) has granted approval to Setel Hellas S.A.'s (Setel Hellas') SeeMBox-V MRV Solution, which is intended for auditing purposes under the new regulations, Greek media reports.
As Ship & Bunker has previously reported, the MRV regulation will require shipping companies to submit ship-specific monitoring plans to verifiers for approval by the end of the August 2017, with per-voyage monitoring set to start on January 1, 2018.
"Our team of verification experts conducted a thorough review of the SeeMBox-V MRV Solution against the requirements of the Regulation 2015/757 'Shipping MRV' in terms of process and functionality," said Julien Dufour, CEO of Verifavia.
"As part of the certification, we used the ISO standards 25051 on software engineering and 17065 on product certification. We were impressed by the quality and robustness of the SeeMBox-V MRV Solution and believe that it will provide transparent and accurate support to shipping companies in complying with the EU Shipping MRV Regulation."
The SeeMBox-V MRV Solution is said to be compliant with all four of the MRV's fuel consumption monitoring methodologies, and allows shipowners and operators to monitor all vessel types within a fleet using a single integrated tool.
The solution is also said to allow for manual or online data entry in order to monitor operational data on a per voyage basis, conducting data quality checks and validations, as well as generating annual reports for individual vessels.
"Early MRV certification from experienced, independent verifier Verifavia Shipping is testament to our technology leadership position," said George Marinakis, Managing Director of SetelHellas.
In February, Ship & Bunker reported that Verifavia, following a "pre-verification GAP-Analysis," had cleared Neda Maritime Agency Co. Ltd (NEDA Maritime) as MRV-ready and "on course" for compliance with the new EU regulation.
