Navig8 Buys 2 ECO-Tankers
London-based Navig8 Chemical Tankers Inc. has purchased two resale ECO 49,000 dwt chemical tankers, the company has announced.
The two vessels were originally ordered by an agribusiness group, and are currently being built at the Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard Co. Ltd.in Vietnam.
Both are scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2015.
Navig8, a provider of shipping management services, has the option to take ownership of the deliveries as scheduled or under a bareboat charter for up to 12 months after delivery before taking ownership within the 12 months.
The company currently has 32 ECO chemical new builds under construction in Korea, Japan and Vietnam.
All are scheduled to be delivered within the next three years.
Global tanker rates were predicted to improve in the second half of this year.
