Containerships Ltd Oy (Containerships) and Nordic Hamburg Shipmanagement GmbH & Co. KG (Nordic Hamburg) have ordered four 1,400 TEU dual-fuel container ships from China's Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard (Huangpu Wenchong), World Maritime News reports.

The contract, which was signed in Helsinki, Finland, is said to include the option for a further four container ships.

The vessels will be owned and managed by Nordic Hamburg and put on long term charter with Containerships.

The four vessels are said to be expected for delivery during 2018.

As Ship & Bunker reported in May, Containerships announced that it had decided to move the construction of six new liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered box ships, which were originally slated for construction at China's Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (Yangzhou Guoyu), to another shipyard, citing "domestic problems."

Also in May, Pioneer Marine Inc. (Pioneer Marine) announced that, through mutual agreement, it had cancelled the construction of its last two newbuilding eco-design Green Dolphin 38,400 DWT Handysize bulkers from China's Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (Yangzhou Guoyu).
