L'Orange GmbH (L'Orange) has announced a new range of high performance and efficient turbochargers that can be used by marine diesel engines, among other large industrial engines.

The new ZR range is said to feature high pressure ratios that enable the turbochargers to offer reduced fuel consumption and associated emissions.

"High performance, low consumption, reduced emissions and good interaction between all units even under highly transient engine operation conditions – the requirements placed on engines are almost identical everywhere and they are increasing steadily," said Olav Altmann, Head of Sales at L'Orange.

"A single component cannot entirely address them, whereas harmonised systems can. Thanks to the turbocharger's diverse product family, we can meet different customers' needs without compromising on performance or efficiency."

L'Orange notes that the new range of turbochargers, which are suitable for engines ranging between 500 kW and 10,000 kW, can be tailored to customer needs.

"The ZR range fills a significant gap in the market for those needing high performance upgrades for large diesel engines," said L'Orange.

The new range is said to be the result of a effort a joint effort between L'Orange and MTU Friedrichshafen.
