Shipping Firm to Test Fuel Monitoring System
A major shipping company will install a new monitoring system made by technology company Xenemetrix at its main port to serve a managed fleet of more than 100 vessels in a pilot program, according to Xenemetrix's parent company, Canada's Eurocontrol Technics Group Inc. [CVE:EUO] (Eurocontrol).
Eurocontrol said the collaboration with "one of the largest container shipping companies in the world with headquarters in Israel" will let Xenemetrix field-test its Petro-Marine XRF onboard solution while giving the shipping company early access to the technology.
If the test is successful, the Israeli company may implement the solution at seven shipping hubs worldwide.
Petro-Marine XRF uses X-ray florescence analysis and monitoring to facilitate vessels' compliance with international regulations, enhances preventative maintenance efforts.
The system, which Eurocontrol says is designed for all kinds of merchant ships, analyses and monitors the level of sulfur, cat fines, and contamination in fuels.
"We are thrilled to have this opportunity which confirms the necessity for Petro-Marine XRF ™ in the maritime industry," said Doron Reinis, Xenemetrix's CEO.
Xenemetrix introduced the Petro-Marine XRF technology earlier this year, saying it can use GPRS, WiFi, Satellite Data Transfer, and GPS to send data to central company locations for reporting and monitoring.
