Bunkers International Corporation (Bunkers International) and the company's joint venture partner C.I. Vanoil today announced it is now providing an ongoing bunker supply service in the port of port of Coveñas, Colombia.

The supplier said its double‐hulled bunker tanker Cartagena Sun is now fully dedicated to providing bunker supply at the port.

Cartagena Sun was introduced in July 2012 with a home base in Cartagena, with her supply operations extended to Coveñas later that year.

"We are very excited that the BT Cartagena Sun will operate in Coveñas, which is Colombia's main crude oil port," said John Canal, President of Bunkers International Corp, in an emailed press release.

"Having the vessel available at Covenas will be of great service to our customers. Currently the ships calling the port have had little or no option for marine fuel and we are confident that our high quality, lower sulphur fuels will be of interest to our customers there."

"We now have the ability to service the large crude oil tankers that call Coveñas, as well as vessels calling for bunkers only."

The Colombian‐flagged Cartagena Sun is a 2012 rebuilt double‐hulled tanker with pump rates up to 600 metric tons/hour and operates with a capacity of 5,500 metric tons of bunker fuel, including RMG 500 CST, RMG 380 CST, and Low Sulphur 380 CST.
