Crowley Maritime Corp. (Crowley) Friday announced that it has taken delivery of the fuel efficient and liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion ready tanker West Virginia.

"The West Virginia is LNG ready, meaning it can be converted for propulsion by liquefied natural gas (LNG), a feature that continues industry-leading innovations and service by Crowley's petroleum services group," said the company.

The 50,000 DWT West Virginia is said to be the fourth of four newbuild Jones Act product tankers constructed by Philly Shipyard, Inc. (PSI) for Crowley, and is set to be christened at a ceremony in New Orleans on Tuesday.

"The delivery of the West Virginia represents our total commitment at Crowley to providing the best performance for our customers with efficiency and innovative solutions," said Rob Grune, Crowley's senior vice president and general manager, petroleum services.

The delivery of the vessel, a product tanker with a 330,000 barrel capacity, follows that of sister ships Louisiana, Ohio, and Texas.

In March, Crowley announced that the first of its two newbuild Commitment Class ConRo vessels, El Coquí, received the installation of its MAN Diesel & Turbo 8S70ME-C8.2-GI LNG powered engine.
