A major new ship repair yard development project in Trinidad and Tobago's Port of Spain will also include bunkering facilities, MarineLog reports

The project is one of two planned by the Trinidad Dry Dock Company Limited (TDDCL), and will reportedly be among the world's largest once completed, with five graving docks able to accommodate vessels between 20,000 DWT to 250,000 DWT

The project is reportedly being carried out with the help of state-backed Invest Trinidad and Tobago (InvesTT), with TDDCL adding that both projects are being used to meet the demands of a growing global shipping fleet, in particular in the Western Hemisphere

The second project is slated to be built in Guyana

Together both facilities are expected to have a combined total drydocking area of 199,300 square meters.

TDDCL said that it is now requesting proposals from companies to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment and Geotechnical Investigation of the Port of Spain facilities.

Late last year, it was reported that the country was looking to expand its bunkering operations, in part by completing a new ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) refinery unit.
