The port of Singapore now has 33 bunker tankers fitted with a Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) approved mass flow metering (MFM) system, according to the latest data from the MPA.

On September 29, 2015 the 2,795 gross tonne (GT) Pearl Jubilee and the 3,597 GT Armada became the most recent vessels to be approved.

In April 2014 MPA announced that from January 1, 2017 it will be mandatory to use a MFM system for Marine Fuel Oil (MFO) bunkering in Singapore, having previously told Ship & Bunker of its intention to make the move in September 2013.

Singapore is the first port in the world to mandate the use of MFM technology.
