A new bunkering vessel at India’s Cochin Port has allowed the supply of fuel at Kochi Outer Port Limits to continue into the monsoon season this year, Indian news site The Shipping Tribune reports.

Shree Krishna XV, operated by Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (HPCL), made 11 deliveries, totalling 5,000 metric tonnes of fuel in August.

In past years, such deliveries were not possible during monsoon season.

Cochin Port and HPCL have been working to encourage more business at the port with moves like simplifying bunkering procedures.

The addition of the 1,100-tonne-capacity Shree Krishna XV last month was reported to be a way to allow for bunkering at night, as well as in monsoon season, as part of an effort for the port to compete against Colombo, Sri Lanka.
