Over 26% of Singapore Bunker Tankers Now Fitted with MPA Approved Mass Flow Metering System
Tuesday February 2, 2016
Data released by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Monday shows that over 26 percent of bunker tankers in Singapore are now fitted with an MPA approved mass flow metering (MFM) system.
As of February 1, 2016 there were 229 registered bunker tankers in Singapore, of which 61 were fitted with an MPA approved MFM, an increase from 48 (representing around 21 percent) in December.
In April 2014 MPA announced that from January 1, 2017 it will be mandatory to use a MFM system for Marine Fuel Oil (MFO) bunkering in Singapore, having previously told Ship & Bunker of its intention to make the move in September 2013.
