For 2013, Singapore saw a 25 percent drop in ship arrests year-on-year, according to the latest data provided to Ship & Bunker by the Supreme Court of Singapore.

The drop, from 114 arrests in 2012 to 85 last year, was just 1 more than the 84 arrests made in 2011.

The number of Warrants for Arrest filed also fell for 2013, down to 17 percent to 110 from 133 in 2012.

There were 95 Warrants for Arrest filed in 2011.

A number of the vessels arrested in Singapore during 2013 were due to bunkering disputes, including November's arrest of the 106,438-deadweight tonne (dwt) Kishore over a dispute with supplier Bunker House Petroleum, and the December arrest of a Glenn Defense Marine Asia Pte (GDMA) vessel following action by bunker supplier Transocean Oil Pte Ltd.
