Russia's Federal Service for Supervision of Use of Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor) Friday said it responded to a bunker spill at the Port of Vladivostok, Russian media reports.

The spill was said to have been linked to a fuel transfer operation from a FESCO floating oil storage vessel, BZS "BBS-5".

In responding to the spill, Rosprirodnadzor says it deployed booms, but a film of oil still managed to spread to a large area of the waters of the Golden Horn Bay, extending from the fishing port to Tsarevich.

Clean up efforts were said to be ongoing, involving specialised vessels as well as oil waste disposal.

The amount of bunkers spilled has not yet been reported, and investigations are said to be ongoing.

Elsewhere in Russia, a spill was also reported at the Port of Nakhodka that occurred earlier in the month.

Reports state that the spill has been successfully cleaned, having covering an area of about 3,000 square metres,

In May, Ship & Bunker reported that an unknown quantity of fuel oil had been spilled at the Black Sea port of Sevastopol on the Crimean Peninsula.
