Dalius Misiunas, Chairman and CEO at Lietuvos Energija, UAB (Lietuvos Energija) says the a joint venture between LitGas, UAB (LitGas), and Blue LNG is being considered, which could see Blue LNG operate a small liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessel that will perform bunkering operations and transport gas from Klaipėdos Nafta's Klaipėda LNG terminal, Baltic media reports.

As Ship & Bunker reported in November, Blue LNG is a joint bunker supply vessel project, which was established between Hamburg-based Bomin Linde LNG GmbH & Co. KG (Bomin Linde LNG) and Klaipėdos Nafta.

It is expected that under a deal between LitGas and Blue LNG, a LNG vessel will transport gas from Klaipėdos Nafta's LNG terminal to an onshore LNG reloading station, as well as conduct LNG bunkering operations.

"We are not ruling out some sort of cooperation, but there are no concrete decisions yet," said Misiunas.

"This could be gas purchases by them from us, swap deals or the leasing of the ship."

In April, Lithuania's Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius said talks between LitGas and Norway's Statoil ASA (Statoil) to finalise a joint venture for small-scale LNG trade needed to be completed or negotiations between Klaipėdos Nafta and Bomin Linde LNG would be at risk of falling apart.

In November, Klaipėdos Nafta signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Spanish Association of Natural Gas for Mobility (GASNAM) to cooperate on the standardisation of LNG bunkering operations.
