The Bomin Group today announced in an emailed statement that it is launching a new Antwerp-based physical bunker supply operation.

Bomin Belgium BVBA will be headed by former OW Bunker manager Leslie Willems, and consist of a team of four people said to have "significant bunkering experience and strong networks within the local market," as well the 2009-built Vantage, a 3,500 metric tonne (mt) capacity, mass flow meter equipped bunker barge.

The new operation will supply a full range of products, including IFO 380, ultra low sulphur fuel oil (ULSFO), and 0.10 percent maximum sulfur DMA, with physical deliveries available in Antwerp, Ghent, Zelzate, Flushing, and Terneuzen.

"Our focus is providing customers with the high quality services and products that Bomin is known for on a global basis," said Willems, Managing Director, Bomin Belgium BVBA.

"In today's market, customers don't just want assurance on the quality and quantity of products, that must be a given. They also want a first rate service that maximizes operational and cost efficiencies, as well as flexibility in the choice and breadth of products in line with their strategy for ECA compliance.

This is what we provide, and it is also why we have invested in the installation of a mass flow meter to provide additional guarantees for the accuracy of supply."

The expansion, said to be "in line with the company's ambitious plans for growth throughout 2015," is the fourth new bunkering operation for Bomin this year, and follows new operations in Copenhagen, Russia's Far East, and Rostock, Germany that were launched in April, May, and July respectively.

"Antwerp is one of the major ports in the world, and it is critical that we have a strong physical presence here to support our customers and our global network," commented Jan Christensen, Regional Manager, Northwest Europe.

"The launch of Bomin Belgium is a continuation of our strategy to expand and enhance our global physical operations, building closer relationships with our customers to offer real value in the bunkering process that goes beyond just the price of the product."

In April, group Managing Director Thomas Johannsen said there were "ambitious plans for Bomin throughout the course of 2015, including growth and expansion in Europe, and wider on a global basis."
