Gazpromneft Marine Bunker Ltd (Gazpromneft Marine) has marked the beginning of the ninth season of supply to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (Royal Caribbean), IAA PortNews reports.

On May 8, at the port of St Petersburg, the Gazpromneft East bunkering vessel is said to have provided the 9,500 DWT Celebrity Silhouette, with approximately 1,000 tonnes of IFO and 200 tonnes of MGO - the first stem of the season.

Under the companies' current agreement, Gazpromneft Marine is set to supply around 40,000 tonnes of bunkers during the May to October period.

"Our cooperation with the partners is guided by the principle of highest possible compliance of the quality of our service and the range of fuels to the customers' demands," said Andrei Vasiliev, CEO of Gazpromneft Marine.

"Depending upon the vessels' technical specifications and itineraries we deliver traditional IFO and MGO fuels as well as ULSFO fuel that complies with the ecological regulations and is suitable for vessels' operations within the Emission Control Areas."

Earlier this week, Ship & Bunker reported that Gazpromneft Marine is currently in negotiations to build the required liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering infrastructure to support the operation of three newbuild LNG-powered ferries slated for delivery to Black Sea Ferry & Invest Ltd. (BFI) in 2018
