International commodity trader Trafigura Beheer BV is considering creating a joint company to provide fuelling ships and LNG supplies in Egypt, Bloomberg reports.

The firm's executive chairman, Claude Dauphin, met with Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab to discuss investments in the nation's power grid, including "upgrading Egypt's infrastructure to be able to use coal," which could ease problems with blackouts caused by a lack of gas supplies.

Dauphin suggested LNG supplies could help the nation's power market, while Mahlab said the government is also looking for new energy sources including solar and wind energy for electricity generation.

Trafigura Beheer provides trading, shipping and chartering, and logistics services and is also a part-owner of fuel company Puma Energy, which operates in the midstream and downstream markets, including bunkering, according to its website.
