Rumours of financial trouble for a local bunker player in Turkey were circulating the market Wednesday, after it came to light that a shipyard has taken back two of the company's bunker tankers as a result of an issue with non-payment, sources have told Ship & Bunker.

Ship & Bunker contacted the bunker player in question late Wednesday, and it was understood a spokesperson would not be available for comment until Thursday.

Sources familiar with the matter have told Ship & Bunker that the shipyard took the vessels back last week, and it is noted that the tankers in question no longer appear on the company's website.

One source said it was believed the company may also be struggling to make payments on some of its other bunkering vessels, and could have debts totalling over $10 million, including monies owed to local physical players and some international traders.
