Gazprom Neft Plans to Triple Bunker Sales by 2025
Russia's Gazprom Neft Marine Bunker plans to increase its bunker fuel sales by 8.2 million tonnes by 2025, nearly tripling its 2012 level, Russian marine news site PortNews reports.
The new plan represents an expansion of its previously announced goal of reaching 7 million tonnes by 2020.
The company, a subsidiary of Russian oil giant Gazprom Neft, also plans to expand its fleet to 20 vessels.
According to the company's website its current fleet consists of nine fueling vessels.
Gazprom Neft Marine Bunker already holds a leading position in the Russian bunker market, with 18.6 percent of sales, and the plan would bring it to 27 percent by 2025.
Levan Kadagidze, head of Commercial Directorate at Gazprom Neft, said one of the biggest trends in global bunkering markets is tougher environmental rules.
"Therefore, apart from the intensive global expansion, Gazprom Neft intends to diversify its products and to implement the project on LNG bunkering which is to facilitate the creation of a new market segment," he said.
In November, 2012, the company announced it had purchased its first bunker tanker for use in operations in Primorye sea ports, representing a move toward more geographic expansion in the Far East and elsewhere.
