OW Bunker Starts Physical Supply in West Africa
Major fuel supplier OW Bunker says it has started physical supply operations offshore in West Africa, covering an area including Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, and the Ivory Coast.
The newly launched 8,250 dead-weight-tonne tanker Wappen von Frankfurt will supply the full range of fuels, including marine gas oil (MGO) and IFO ranging from 30 to 380 cst, as well as lubricants
The tanker's operator, OW Bunker Canary Islands, will also launch a second vessel by the end of the year.
Wappen von Frankfurt has a pumping capacity of up to 750 metric tonnes per hour (mtph) and will use a Coriolis Flow Meter to avoid possible inaccurate measurements caused by swelling during offshore supply.
"We know what our customers need in this region - fast and accurate supply, high quality products and being able to avoid unnecessary port calls and lengthy waits," said Jan Christensen, the company's vice president for Physical Supply.
"With our own vessel and control over the supply chain, we are able to provide our customers with the highest quality fuels and lubricants in the most efficient and cost effective way."
OW Bunker also provides certified offshore slops-removal service.
The company has been moving to expand its physical operations, including the recent appointment of former global sales director Søren Christian Meyer as a vice president of the division.
