International quality solutions provider Intertek has announced that Mr. Michael Green, Intertek ShipCare's Global Technical Manager, has been elected to the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) Board of Directors.

"We are proud of Michael for achieving this position of recognition and responsibility within a prestigious organization such as IBIA," said Steve Bee, Intertek ShipCare's Global Business Director.

"Michael is a long-standing expert in bunker fuel and of the myriad issues related to bunker fuel quality. The constant challenges posed to the shipping industry from bunker fuel variability and ever-changing regulations mean Michael's expertise is needed more than ever."

Green is located at the company's Darlington, UK Centre which coordinates and reports ShipCare work worldwide, including its marine fuel and bunker fuel testing and inspection programme.

In a separate statement, IBIA said that Lim Teck Chen, Chief executive of Singapore-based bunker craft operators Hong Lam Marine, and Petromedia Group Editor Unni Einemo would be joining Green on its board of directors with effect from April 1, 2014.

Terpel's Eugena Benavides was reappointed within the organization, while Nigel Draffin, John Sterling, and Paul Dyke all stood down from IBIA's board.

Intertek in October announced the expansion of the Darlington UK Centre in a move it said at the time was designed to better support its international marine services business.
