Bunkering operations are now underway for new global bunker player Soyuz Bunkering Group (SBG), who Ship & Bunker reported in December was preparing to launch operations at a number of locations.

"We are slightly different to the other players in the market," a spokesperson for the company told Ship & Bunker.

"We can trade in most areas world wide, and we have a physical presence in others. We belong to a big organisation that trades a wide range of commodities and have interest in ports and shipping."

The group is now operating from offices in Rotterdam, Singapore, Dubai, and Hong Kong.

It has been announced that Chris Todd, whose previous industry appointments include positions at Tramp-oil and OceanConnect Marine, is based at the company's Rotterdam office.

Todd will have both a local and global role in sourcing and trading material, as well as being involved in new projects.

Kasper Soeje, formerly of A.P. Moller-Maersk and Chemoil, is leading SGB's team in Singapore.

Patrick Ng Sen Ho, formerly of Total Oil Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd, A/S Global Risk Management Ltd, and Coastal Oil Singapore Pte Ltd, has also just been welcomed to the Singapore office.

"He has great experience in the Singapore market, but has also spent almost two years on location in Rotterdam," the spokesperson said.

"His local knowledge as a trader and supplier, combined with other merits already in the office provides us with a strong and diversified team."

As Ship & Bunker reported previously, Peter Grunwaldt is running the new group from the offices in Dubai, while Souz Asia, an existing sister company that has been operating out of Hong Kong for the past two years, will be re-branded into the group at a later stage.

Soyuz Bunkering Group (SBG) is part of Russia's Summa Group, which is owned by Russian billionaire Ziyavudin Magomedov.
