Synthetic Fuel Manufacturer Claims Succees in Sea Trials

Quadrise Fuels International Plc (Quadrise) [LON:QFI] said its efforts to develop a low-cost alternative marine fuel have taken a step forward with tests demonstrating the fuel's ability to run a state-of-the-art, 2-stroke marine diesel engine.

The London-based company's Multiphase Superfine Atomized Residue (MSAR) Synthetic Fuel Oil (SFO) is slated for commercial production starting in the middle of this year, with a wider roll-out in 2014 planned after further evaluation.

The most recent tests were carried out by A.P. Møller-Mærsk in late 2012, following the development of a second-generation version of the MSAR fuel.

"The sea trials conducted last year provided valuable and pioneering insight into the use of Marine MSAR as bunker fuel," said Quadrise Executive Chairman Ian Williams.

"We are delighted by the results of the recent tests on Marine MSAR®2 on an advanced 2-stroke engine that were a necessary precursor to the Company entering the commercial phase during 2013. 

"We look forward to concluding agreements with our partners and delivering commercial volumes of Marine MSAR®2 during 2013."

In October, Quadrise announced that it had placed shares to raise £3.5 million ($5.7 million), which it said would allow the company to advance to a point where it will generate net positive cash flow.
